Entrance to the BIENNALE!
Swiss Pavilion - crazy que-tip things
Swiss Pavilion - lady mannequins with crystals growing out of them.
American Pavilion - USA runner on a treadmill, on a tank, that is upside down. The tracks of the tank moved as he ran. Noisy.
American Pavilion - Gloria statue laying in a tanning bed. It is dark because it is actually getting tanned for the entire length of the show (6 months).
Norwegian Pavilion - paintings, dead bird sculptures, trees growing inside and through the roof, and white floor canvas'. One of my favorites.
Denmark Pavilion - Newsprint paper with faint print that reads, "One must be very careful with one's silence". Excellent piece that captured what it was trying to say visually and conceptually.
Denmark Pavilion - "An American Index". Siberian tiger that has severe handicaps. White tigers like these don't exist in nature and have to be bread, often leading to mutations.
Denmark Pavilion - "An American Index". Thought you would like this one Dad. This is a photo of the fuel cells being stored at the Hanford site. Glowing in water from the amount of radiation.
Belgian Pavilion - painting of video highlights. Can you tell what was happening in the news that day?
Belgian Pavilion - video of the paintings being painted.
Nathaniel Mellors - Bearded heads. These animatronic heads would argue with each other.
Jack Goldstien - Acrylic painting on canvas. I love these colors and the stencil work on this one is so intricate.
DAS INSTITUT - Yellow screen.
DAS INSTITUT - paintings on paper looking through blue screen.
Sigmar Polke - This dude is the man. Acrylic painting with multiple layers and lined textured surface.
Sigmar Polke - Again, it is a shame that he passed away this last year. He was a truly great artist.
Maurizio Cattelan - Stuffed pigeons throughout the show.
Guy De Cointet - Amazing graphic design piece. I would hang this on my wall.
Cyprien Gaillard - "Floods of the Old and the New World". Nice collage with old and new photos and beer labels from around the world.
R. H. Quaytman - Painting/Print. The top was painted in neon yellow and glowed onto the wall and lines of color in short segment on bottom.
R. H. Quaytman - Painting/Print. Same colored lines like the first one but this time arranged in a stacked diamond pattern.
Pipilotti Rist - Venice painting with video being projected over the top.
Seth Price - painting with ropes encased in acrylic. From a distance these looked like the rope was a photo but up close you could see all the texture and depth of the rope.
Omer Fast - scene from "Everything is clearer from 5000 feet". Really great film. Another one of my favorites.
Bulgarian Pavilion - This room had speakers and a car. That red color was everywhere. Very strange opera was playing loudly. Very interesting take on a car crash.
Israeli Pavilion - Video of three naked women scraping sand down the beach and the tide washing it away.
Japanese Pavilion - Sloped walls with mirrors with projected animation. Very surreal, almost traps you in this room.
Korean Pavilion - Mannequins fighting. These things were about three times as tall as me, just to give you some perspective.
Korean Pavilion - Soldiers covered in flowers, walking through flowers. This does do the work justice but you will have to believe me that it was awesome.
Korean Pavilion - Mirrors with screens behind them that would break by what sounded like gun fire.
